Keeping up with current drug approvals

Recent legislative reforms have allowed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to reduce the average approval process for new drugs from 30 to 15 months. Advances in technologic support have made access to the FDA widely available. This article reviews 14 recently approved drugs used in primary care along with clinical background and prescribing guidelines. Information on accessing FDA resources through the use of the Internet is also included.
