    • Acute hyphema was surgically induced in ten albino rabbits.
    • The Douvas Rotoextractor was used for rapid blood removal.
    • One human patient with hyphema, elevated intraocular pressure, and corneal staining was treated.

    Findings:

    • Complete blood resolution in rabbit eyes occurred within 48 hours post-procedure.
    • No iris, cornea, or lens damage was observed in rabbits after six weeks.
    • The human patient achieved 6/7.5 vision and controlled intraocular pressure three months post-surgery.

    Implications:

    • The Douvas Rotoextractor demonstrates high efficacy and safety for hyphema management.
    • This device may offer a superior alternative for treating complex hyphema cases.
    • Further research could establish the Rotoextractor as a standard surgical intervention.
