Summary

Brain tumors and aneurysms rarely coexist. This case report details a unique instance of an intratumoral aneurysm within a meningioma, a finding not previously documented in medical literature.

Background:

  • Aneurysms occur in approximately 0.5% of brain tumor patients.
  • Angiography, crucial for diagnosis, is infrequently performed for brain tumors, complicating incidence assessment.
  • 42 cases of meningioma associated with aneurysms exist in literature, but none were intratumoral.

Observation:

  • A 48-year-old woman presented with an intracranial meningioma.
  • An aneurysm was discovered within the meningioma itself (intratumoral).

Findings:

  • This represents the first reported case of an intratumoral aneurysm associated with a meningioma.
  • The coexistence of meningioma and an intratumoral aneurysm is exceptionally rare.

Implications:

  • Highlights the importance of considering vascular anomalies in brain tumor cases.
  • May prompt further investigation into the relationship between meningiomas and aneurysm formation.
  • Contributes to the understanding of rare cerebrovascular and neurosurgical conditions.
