Summary

Encephalitis survivors can achieve functional gains in rehabilitation, but recovery rates vary and are typically lower than for traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke. Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scores can help identify adult patients who may benefit from inpatient rehabilitation.
