Cooperative Home Care Associates: a status report

Cooperative Home Care Associates, a worker-owned home health care company in the South Bronx section of New York City, was founded with the vision that home care paraprofessionals should have permanent salaried positions, adequate pay and fringe benefits, opportunity for career advancement, and a sense of belonging. Five years and 170 jobs later, business is good--total sales reached approximately $2.5 million in 1989.
