Due to numerous inquiries from neonatal professional staff members regarding the potential teratogenic effects of ribavirin, the decision was made to establish institutional guidelines for its safe administration and preparation. The neonatal pharmacist was asked to prepare guidelines from available information in the literature and other institutions' practice standards.
