The changing role of the trustee

Trustees in large hospitals often wrestle with tough choices. But in a sign of changing times, their counterparts at a county hospital with 35 beds, 60 employees and a medical staff of four are becoming equally knowledgeable about a range of complex issues. Throughout the state, trustees face the same basic problems--those created by government involvement in the provision of health care, and those resulting from unlimited demand for limited resources.
