The health care worker shortage: the gap widens

This time last year, HealthTexas reported on the continuing shortage of nurse professionals and the growing problem finding workers in other areas such as physical and respiratory therapy, pharmacy and radiology. An American Hospital Association survey underscored the growing disparity between demand and supply in these areas. Twelve months later, not much has changed. Hospitals continue to look for ways to find and keep workers and increase the overall pool of qualified personnel. Efforts continue to bring the problem to the attention of lawmakers, policy makers, education and business.
