Health care reform and the practice of medicine

Widespread concern about the high cost of health care and the growing number of uninsured is fueling a movement for major reform of the American health care system. The public forum is now inundated with reform proposals. This article analyzes the roots of the current health care crisis and the substance of a number of key reform plans, with special attention to the implications of reform for physicians.
