Writing and updating policies for volunteer programs is a key strategy to gain the attention and recognition of board and senior administrators for volunteer programs and for managers of volunteers. Further, in light of the recent and rapid growth in volunteering and in the complexity of volunteer work itself, policy development has become an indispensable element in risk management and liability reduction.
