Promoting the development of nurses' presentation and publication skills

When nurses share their clinical knowledge with others through presentations and publications, new ideas emerge that could result in improved patient care. Managers are in a strategic position to promote the development of presentation and publication skills. This article describes a three-phase model that can help managers utilize appropriate strategies and resources to facilitate skills development. Each phase of development is designed to increase skill level, confidence, and experience. With managerial support, this model can help nurses learn to communicate effectively with colleagues through presentations and publications.
