Impact of specialty consults on length of stay and cost-per-case

The authors hypothesize that consultation of medical specialists in two departments results in a decrease in length of stay and a corresponding decrease in cost-per-case. The two departments where this investigation took place were the departments of Gastroenterology and Infectious Disease at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
