Measuring the economic value of HMOs
1Hewitt Associates, Rowayton, CT, USA.
Abstract:
The economic efficiency of HMOs varies dramatically, affected by such factors as market share, provider contracting agreements and utilization management techniques. Employers that establish HMO strategies without conducting quantitative assessments may incur unnecessary costs. A combination of both quantitative and qualitative analyses can lead employers to a best practice system of health care.
