Effects of managed care on the laboratory. The Rochester, New York experience

This analysis was performed in an attempt to understand how managed care affects laboratory utilization and costs, specifically on a nonpatient basis, as well as overall health-care expenditures. Rochester, New York, was chosen as an initial case study because it is a well-documented, studied, and mature managed care market.
