Abstract:
PaO2 can be increased by oxygen supplementation or by application of EEP and by manipulation of P(aw) during mechanical ventilation. Techniques and devices for accomplishing these maneuvers are many and varied. Clinicians should be aware of the appropriate application, complications, and limitations of each.
