New developments in electrotherapy

In the last decade, and especially in the last five years, there has been a proliferation of new electrotherapy devices on the physical therapy market. As therapists, we have looked for other modalities to enhance our ability to help our patients. We have also seen PTs develop innovative treatment approaches, using these devices for pain relief, edema control, wound healing, and enhancement of muscle contractility. The following is a brief overview of some innovative electrotherapy approaches being used by PTs.
