Cancer carve outs and outcomes measurement programs: an emerging paradigm

Determining how to provide optimal, cost-efficient cancer care may well be one of the most critical issues facing health plans in the 1990s. Although challenging today, the provision of cancer care promises to become even more complex in the near future. To meet the challenge presented by the modern health care environment, some health plans are using the services of a new breed of cancer care delivery system--the cancer carve out.
