Area of Science:

  • Minimally Invasive Surgery
  • Gynecologic Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Techniques

Background:

  • Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy is a common procedure.
  • Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LASH) offers an alternative approach.
  • Established in 1990, LASH has been refined over time.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report the technique of laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LASH).
  • To evaluate the feasibility and safety of LASH.
  • To identify specific indications for LASH, especially for myoma treatment.

Main Methods:

  • Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LASH) was performed on 36 women.
  • The surgical procedure was conducted by experienced surgeons.
  • Data on duration and complications were collected.

Main Results:

  • The average operative time for LASH was 60 minutes.
  • No major complications were reported in the series.
  • The procedure demonstrated high feasibility and low morbidity.

Conclusions:

  • Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LASH) is a safe and effective minimally invasive procedure.
  • LASH is a viable option for specific gynecologic conditions.
  • This technique is particularly beneficial for uteri with multiple submucosal myomas unresponsive to hysteroscopic therapy.
