Complement-fixing antinuclear antibodies (C-ANAs) can be present in patients with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) or Sjögren's syndrome, even if routine antinuclear antibody (ANA) tests are negative. C-ANA testing aids in diagnosing these connective tissue diseases.
