Summary

This study found that measuring physical work intensity using task-specific arm-cranking data (VO2peak) provides a more accurate assessment of exertion than general exercise tests (VO2max). This highlights the importance of job-specific physical capacity evaluations.

    • Relative work intensity and physiological responses are underestimated when using general VO2max.
    • Implementing job-specific testing can lead to improved assessment of physical demands in the workplace.
