Summary

A rare anterior jugular venous aneurysm was diagnosed in a child using noninvasive radiology. Surgical removal was successful, highlighting this vein as a potential, isolated site for venous aneurysms.

Background:

Venous aneurysms are uncommon vascular anomalies.
The internal jugular vein is the most frequent site for venous aneurysms.
Anterior jugular venous involvement is less commonly reported.

Observation:

A case of an anterior jugular venous aneurysm in a 4-year-old boy is presented.
Diagnosis was confirmed using noninvasive radiological imaging.
Deeper cervical venous malformations were ruled out.

Findings:

The anterior jugular vein can be affected in isolation, presenting as a venous aneurysm.
Surgical excision of the aneurysm was performed without complications.
The findings suggest a need to consider the anterior jugular vein as a potential site for isolated venous aneurysms.

This case expands the understanding of venous aneurysm locations.
Recognition of isolated anterior jugular venous aneurysms can prevent diagnostic delays.
Further research into the pathogenesis of these isolated venous anomalies is warranted.
