Flexible laws needed to balance physician control and patient rights

The Michigan legisalture will soon consider the Medical Treatment Decision Act, designed to provide a mechanism to ensure a patient's right of self-determination concerning his treatment even if he is unconscious or incompetent. A statewide task force drafted this proposal, which strives for flexibility to meet various individual health crises.
