Journal of Clinical Engineering
|September 9, 1978
Abstract:
The preventive maintenance program instituted at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital (Parkersburg, West Virginia) aids in the efficient and safe use of medical electronic instrumentation in the general- and critical-care areas of the hospital. Depending on the equipment involved, regular, preventive inspections are performed daily, monthly, quarterly, or annually. Both mechanical and electrical inspection procedures are followed to insure that the equipment is operating safely and in an acceptable clinical manner. This preventive maintenance program requires skilled staff members as well as a basic supply of spare parts, test equipment, and stand-by equipment.
