Abstract:
The need of all hospitals to make a profit and the key role of census in the creation of that profit have led to a crisis in census marked by strong competition between hospitals, administrators, and physicians. This article examines how hospitals compete for patients and physicians and the need for the direct participation of the hospital board in the competitive struggle.
