Surgeons face cost containment issues

Surgeons who attended the annual convention of the American College of Surgeons heard strong arguments on what surgeons can--and cannot--do to lower the cost of health care. Although reducing the number of laboratory and x-ray tests will help, others contended that a more complete approach taking into account health care as part of the national economic picture is needed.
