Building blocks to comprehensive quality assurance

As a result of the new quality assurance standard recently introduced by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAH), a new emphasis has been placed on the development of comprehensive studies in quality assurance programs. Considerable planning is necessary to establish an overall institutional quality assurance program, but equally important is the need to delineate suitable techniques for individual studies within a program.
