Abstract:
The results of a study of nine film-screen combinations seem to indicate that it is possible to reduce the radiation dose for polytomography without loss of diagnostic quality. The reduction in radiation exposure can be substantial when 16 to 25 exposures are taken in a routine study. Benefits in addition to the lower patient dose are lower tube heat loading and longer tube life.
