Virucidal efficacy of hospital disinfectants and antiseptics
Abstract:
This article reviews the virucidal efficacy of the five main families of chemical disinfecting solutions: Alcohols, glutaraldehydes, iodophors, bisdiguanides and phenolics currently used in hospitals as disinfectants or antiseptics. Special emphasis was placed on the efficacy of these solutions against difficult-to-kill hydrophilic viruses, some of which are responsible for nosocomial infections in hospitals.
