A technique for encouraging employee involvement in improving productivity
Abstract:
Productivity improvement is popular. It is easy to discuss, yet often difficult to accomplish. This difficulty is further enhanced by the complexity of today's health institutions. Economic pressure forces health administrators to be more concerned with improving productivity. Health workers need more involvement in decisions that affect their work environments. The program described here presents a productivity self-enhancement process (PSEP) designed to allow health employees this increased involvement. The design is specifically structured for today's complex, highly-departmentalized health institutions. Properly implemented, PSEP constitutes an innovative management program with great potential benefits.
