Tax-exempt status is not a "sure thing" in long-term care

Healthcare organizations sometimes mistakenly assume that their tax-exempt status will transfer to the long-term care facilities they are developing. Too late, they discover that the criteria for obtaining tax-exempt status are more extensive than anticipated. This problem can be avoided if a simple two-step process is followed: educate project managers about criteria for obtaining tax-exempt status and apply that education at the start of project development.
