The role of automated ordering devices in hospital purchasing

There are several different types of automated order devices (AODs) available to hospitals. The author of this article reviews the types of devices available, the advantages of their use for both hospital user and vendor, the documented claims as to their benefit, and disadvantages that users should be wary of in using AODs.
