Assessing the performance of information technology

Most hospital executives have difficulty assessing the impact of information technology (IT) and the performance of IT personnel. This article describes three management visions for IT--automate, informat and transform--and seven assessment procedure for determining which vision may be most relevant to a specific hospital.
