Older population most diverse of all American age groups
Abstract:
Demographic trends of older Americans are explored in this excerpt from the book, Marketing Healthcare to Older Adults. The older population is the most diverse of all age groups. There are broad differences among elders in income levels, financial assets, and spending patterns. Many older women are widowed and live alone. About half of older Americans live in the eight most populous states, and many elders are leaving the sunbelt states to return home. Most Americans retire from work before age 65. All of this information must be considered when planning how to best serve the long-term healthcare needs of the older population.
