New prescription for drug regulation

Significant scientific, economic, and social changes have occurred in the 40 years since the foundation was laid for the Nation's drug regulatory system. Congressional and Administration leaders believe it is time for a new system that meets modern conditions. A bill now before Congress would speed the development and approval of new drugs, make it easier for FDA to remove dangerous ones, and provide consumers with more information about prescription drugs.
