Use of aftercare programs in community mental health clinics
Abstract:
This study examines the differences in the use of community mental health clinics by patients discharged from state hospitals, based on personal and social characteristics of the patients. It also considers the relationship between patients' use of such aftercare and readmission to the hospital. The authors conclude that patients who continue in an aftercare program are more likely to be readmitted, regardless of their degree of psychiatric impairment.
