    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the performance of 13 commercially available bacteria filters.
    • To identify variations in filter efficacy and reliability across different brands and types.
    • To assess filter performance against various challenging agents and conditions.

    Main Methods:

    • Filters were challenged with mineral oil droplets, bacteria (Serratia marcescens, E. coli bacteriophages T4 and T7), tobacco smoke, india ink, dioctylphthalate (DOP) smoke, and water.
    • Airflow resistance was measured, particularly after water loading.
    • Filtration efficiency was assessed using different DOP testing methods.
