Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Urology

Background:

  • Gonococcal urethritis is a common sexually transmitted infection.
  • Skin manifestations of gonorrhea are rare but can occur.

Observation:

  • A 53-year-old male presented with an erythematous and vesicular rash on his left inner thigh.
  • The rash was located at the level of the tip of his penis.

Findings:

  • The patient had a confirmed diagnosis of gonococcal urethritis.
  • The thigh eruption is hypothesized to be a reaction to gonococcal endotoxin present in urethral discharge.

Implications:

  • This case highlights a potential, albeit uncommon, dermatological complication of gonorrhea.
