Assessment of a patient with orofacial pain
1Oral Medicine Department, St Bartholomew's.
Abstract:
Pain is the commonest complaint that brings a patient to a dentist. Most pain is acute, rapidly diagnosed and managed. However, more chronic pain must be more carefully evaluated if it is to be managed successfully. This paper proposes a systematic approach to the taking of a pain history and gives a short differential diagnosis of facial pain of non-dental origin.
