Abstract:
Gallbladder disease in adolescents, although not uncommon, has been neglected in the literature, which is unfortunate because adolescents possess a unique set of characteristics. Drawing on the relevant available literature, the author outlines our current knowledge about gallbladder disease in adolescents. Particular attention is devoted to gallstone formation, associated medical conditions, and predisposing risk factors.
