    Area of Science:

    • Interventional Radiology
    • Pulmonary Medicine
    • Vascular Surgery

    Background:

    • Massive hemoptysis presents a high mortality risk.
    • Traditional treatments for severe lung bleeding have limitations.
    • Angiographic embolization is established for gastrointestinal and central nervous system hemorrhage.

    Observation:

    • Five cases of massive hemoptysis were treated.
    • Improved angiographic techniques were utilized.
    • Bronchial artery embolization was the primary intervention.

    Findings:

    • The improved bronchial artery embolization technique successfully controlled massive hemoptysis in all five patients.
    • The procedure proved effective in managing life-threatening lung hemorrhage.
    • No immediate complications were reported in the treated cases.

    Implications:

    • Therapeutic bronchial artery embolization is a viable and effective treatment for massive hemoptysis.
    • This approach offers a potentially life-saving alternative for patients with benign or malignant lung disease.
    • Further research into optimizing angiographic techniques for hemoptysis is warranted.
