Pancreatic head cystadenoma: a case report

A large microcystic adenoma of the pancreas was successfully removed in an 18-year-old patient. The young adult experienced a full recovery with no symptoms three years post-surgery.

Background:
- Microcystic adenomas are rare, benign pancreatic tumors.
- Large pancreatic tumors can present with abdominal pain and palpable masses.
Observation:
- An 18-year-old presented with right subcostal pain and an upper abdominal mass.
- Clinical and laboratory evaluation revealed an 80-85 mm pancreatic head tumor.
Findings:
- Cytological analysis confirmed a diagnosis of microcystic adenoma of the pancreas.
- The patient underwent a successful cephalic pancreatoduodenectomy with pylorus preservation.
Implications:
- Surgical resection is an effective treatment for large microcystic pancreatic adenomas.
- Complete recovery and symptom resolution are achievable following surgical intervention.
