Abstract:
In the last year of his life professor Ludwik Bierkowski (1801-1860) introduce a new method of treatment for open fractures, which was not published because of his untimely death. This method was described by his son Włodzimierz Bierkowski (1832-1888) but it is still in manuscript. However the method was used by his students.
