Background:

  • Residual acetabular dysplasia can lead to hip pain and long-term joint degeneration.
  • Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) is a surgical technique aimed at correcting hip dysplasia.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of periacetabular osteotomy in patients with residual acetabular dysplasia.
  • To assess the efficacy of PAO for hip pain management and joint preservation.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective review of 66 hips in 58 patients who underwent PAO for acetabular dysplasia.
  • Clinical assessment and radiographic follow-up were performed at a minimum of 2 years post-surgery (average 4 years).

Main Results:

  • Overall clinical results were graded as 17% excellent, 59% good, 12% fair, and 12% poor.
