The mental health of students--do teachers hurt or help?
The Journal of School Health

Abstract:
Students' problems of adjustment are serious, and merit attention. Teachers who are so inclined could help prevent many emotional problems by applying some methods and attitudes of psychotherapists. It is appropriate for them to avoid such tactics, as threat, shame, and sympathy, and adopt such skills and attitudes as acceptance, empathy, genuineness, and relevancy.
