Background:

Ludwig's angina is a severe, diffuse inflammation affecting the submandibular and sublingual spaces.
It predominantly impacts young adults with dental infections but can occur in children.

Observation:

Symptoms include severe neck pain, swelling, fever, malaise, and dysphagia.
The presence of stridor indicates a potential airway crisis.

Findings:

Common causative bacteria include gram-negative, anaerobic organisms, streptococci, and staphylococci.
Intravenous high-dose penicillin G, sometimes with additional antibiotics, is the primary treatment.

Implications:
