Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate HPA axis activity in obese females based on body fat distribution.
  • To compare cortisol secretion patterns using advanced methods like saliva cortisol and overnight urinary free cortisol to creatinine ratio (UFC/UC).

  • Recruited 82 obese female inpatients.
  • Assessed body fat distribution using waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and waist girth (WG) corrected for age.

    • Body fat distribution may influence HPA axis activity independently of overall obesity.
