Summary

Residual Nyquist ghosts in echo-planar imaging (EPI) can create misleading low apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in diffusion studies. Spatial presaturation or fluid-suppression techniques effectively prevent these artifacts in diffusion-weighted EPI scans.
