Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the nutritional causes of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
  • To assess the relationship between diet and BPH risk in a Greek population.

Main Methods:

  • A case-control study was conducted in Athens, Greece.
  • 184 BPH patients and 246 controls were analyzed using unconditional logistic regression.

Main Results:

  • Fruit consumption was inversely associated with BPH risk (OR 0.79).
  • Butter and margarine intake showed a positive association with BPH risk.
