Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of partial superficial parotidectomy for tumors limited to the superficial lobe of the parotid gland.
  • To assess the rates of facial nerve dysfunction and tumor recurrence following this conservative surgical technique.

  • A retrospective review of 59 patients undergoing partial superficial parotidectomy by a single surgeon between 1987 and 1997.
  • Selective facial nerve dissection was employed, with adequate margins determined by tumor-to-nerve proximity.
