Summary

Kininogens demonstrate significant antithrombotic effects in vivo, reducing blood clot formation in deficient rats. This suggests kininogen-derived peptides could be a novel antithrombotic strategy.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the in vivo antithrombotic properties of kininogens.
  • To assess the role of kininogens in a thrombosis model with limited arterial injury.

  • A thrombosis model involving endothelial removal was used in Brown-Norway rats.
  • Kininogen-deficient rats (A163T mutation) were compared to wild-type littermates.
  • Laser Doppler was employed to measure blood flow reduction.
